Romans 8
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

Refreshed

The caregroup tonight was rather good. It's quite refreshing for me because I've been having a really busy week, in fact, many busy weeks.

As I was looking at the pictures, March has been rather eventful in fact. I'll dedicate another post on that ;p But yea, after a long long week, I finally felt tired this morning. Looking at the amount of work that I have to accomplish in less than 3 weeks time, it's not too encouraging when I couldnt see much progress in the work. I kept feeding worship songs to my ears, I really wanted to just worship God.

I was very much looking forward to the caregroup today. Because I knew that it's the time when I get to worship God and just be drown in His words. I prayed the very much needed prayer, that's to cast all my cares and burdens into His hands. Whichever areas that I've fallen short of, the knowledge and wisdom I need, the progress that I should be making, the quality of work, Jesus is the answer to them all.

I'm glad to say that today's shooting went rather well. Also, God's answered my prayer of the game design project! I got an email frm a fellow classmate saying that he figured a way out finally! I was so happpppppppppppyy when I saw that mail after I got home frm the caregroup. Already feeling rather refreshed and rejuvenated, I see yet another miracle. THANK YOU GOD :D

I believe that I will see more prayers come to past. He will continue to supply the answers that I shall need as I progress on :) When I stop focusing on the projects that I need to do and look to Jesus, it'll all be met at the cross.

1 Peter 5 : 6-7
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Hello Week 10

After playing through the whole weekend, I really should be good and start doing all my projects.
Hello week 10.

In NUS, our school ends in week 13. After week 13, we'll have 1 week of reading week, and then followed by finals.

What do I have? 4 projects due in week 13, or rather mid week 12.
1 special effects video
1 storybook for kids aged 6-9
1 e-learning website to educate on global warming
1 game on Blender

On top of that, I have got 1 concert review, 1 movie critique, and a few tests to go.
Wonderful :D

The weekend was great though. Met up with the gang because Yuta was in town again. He brought Cat's love back for me from London. It's lovely! :) Will probably write about it some time later, maybe when I get bored of Blender or something ;p

BBQ and ah-ma sharing session

Had a good time over at the BBQ with my fellow Penangites. Amidst the crazy week 9, I am glad that I'm able to spend the evening with them. Though I dont know some of the freshmen, it's great to get to catch up with some old friends, and also my juniors.
Syen and I had a great time catching up. Cant believe how NUS is capable of keeping us so busy, such that we hardly even bump into each other on campus. We do see each other in church sometimes, but we dont always have time to talk. It's great to catch up tonight, and to know how has she been lately. Family, life, Jesus. I love the fellowship. Oh and of course hotdog, satay, and burger :D

Also, I had the chance to meet up with my fellow juniors frm Jit Sin. Cant believe that I havent met the freshmen frm Jit Sin, until today. What a shame ey. But Lukas, Chong Yee, Yong Tat and gang have done a great job taking care of them. Well, maybe they didnt. But they're well alive at the moment. Haha.

I have the privilege to share some of my experiences and thoughts with them too. I've been stressing the same point over and over again, that is to encourage them to lead a balanced university life. Have fun. Have fun. And have fun. At the same time, dont forget to do some work too, to catch up with the ridiculous workload here. Hehe ;p Also, I encouraged them to study abroad for a semester at least. It is good to spend some time somewhere outside of NUS. You'll get the opportunity to see beyond NUS. It will be an important experience, if not crucial. Be it exchange programme, summer programme, or NOC. It will be good. So yea.

There is so much that I wanna do, I wanna share. But there's only this much that I can do. Sometimes I still wished that my friends from back home will get this kind of opportunities, and also this kind of exposure. I dont want them to be deprived from experiences like this. So, at my best, I can only encourage my fellow juniors to not waste their time here in NUS. It is a great college, with plenty of opportunities to offer. Go explore, explore and explore. It's a playground for us to have fun, and try out things we never otherwise would.

I come frm kampung. And I'm thankful that God's placed many wonderful people in my life. Through their sharing, help, coaching, and friendship, I've learnt a lot. As I continue learning, I really want to pass it on, to benefit many others. I guess that's the only way to keep the spirit going ;0)
The kampung kids, yes, Jit Sin!! :D
Thanks Lukas and the rest for organizing the BBQ. We had mighty fun!
Now I guess it's time to get back to the submissions in Week 13. Haha! Yes, everything I need, Jesus is.

Where is the recession?

I really wonder. The crowd at the IT Show in Suntec, is scary. Scary hasnt quite aptly described it. Very scary it is.

By the way, Ruta is back in Singa! It's great seeing her again, after 1 year and 3 months? Maybe. Hehe ;p Had a great time with some of the other HCers too. Couple of Singaporeans, a Turkish who was a captain, a German who has a cool web start-up, an Indian Swiss, a Chinese. I managed to understand more about the web portal that the German is setting up. It's Atawas.com. Hopefully he'll get his funding soon ;p

More importantly, I get to see Ruta again :D She's sent to Istanbul for work, I am jealous. Really jealous! Bring me thre please? And yes, I know that Istanbul is in Turkey, haha.

Happy Holi Day

This is a great day. This is a special day. Really special ;p

I had lunch with Chou Ming at Bugis, had a really good talk. He's more excited than I am about going to San Francisco. Anyways, yea ;p

Then I met up with Carli before going to the Khalsa place - it's some random Indian celebration, called the Holi Day. Apparently it's to celebrate the harvest with colors, back in India. We thought it's kind of fun, so we just went. It's a no-brainer game, just keep throwing colors at everyone else. And of course, at the same time, you'd be thrown at as well. Haha!

Really cool. I was clean, eventually all of us were turend into monsters.
What's more fun? Everyone, literally everyone kept staring at us when we were on the train and bus. Haha. Among the many random comments that we got from strangers, some are really funny.

"Where do you come from?" -erh, we are not from the TV, seriously
"Did you perform in some Chinese Opera?" -erh, maybe not?!
"You went for prayer in the temple?" -hrm. no? I go to church actually.
"What happened to you?" -we actually went to play. Haha!
As though it's not enough, Carli and I went to Botak Jones for dinner. Haha. Many of them took a 2nd look at us, in disbelief. Haha. We came from war. We looked like it.

But it's a pain when it comes to washing up. I spent an hour showering- and I'm not totally clean YET. I am still semi-colored. I guess it'll be a while until I become clean again. Everything's cool, minus the showering part. Haha!

AirSBS coming your way!

One of the assignments I've done for NM2208!
OK, it's not realistic at this point of time. But I definitely hope it'll come true one day. Imagine flying from Boon Lay to Eunos. Haha!

Yes, I want to have my own airline. Maybe I'll name it PenAir!
Haha ;) I'm happy with my work.

I love NM2208

Finally I've finished updating one of the learning journal that I have to keep.
It's not a good idea to keep delaying the work. Really ;p

NM2208 is one of my most-liked module by far. I really enjoy doing all the assignments. Even though it means spending hours and hours on Photoshop, I really like it. Guess that's where my passion lies, really.

Wished there's a higher level module after this :(
Like my friend said, we should have gone to arts school. What are we doing in the school of computing, really? Haha!

But yea, I've got many more assignments to do! I just have to keep believing that He will bring me through, victoriously!

Maybe cleaners deserve some better pay

I overheard this conversation between the shuttle bus driver and 2 cleaners today. Okay, maybe not really overheard, because they're talking and I sat right behind. So I obviously could hear them well.

The 2 aunties seem to be taking the same bus B every evening. The friendly shuttle bus uncle asked, "What do you do here?" One of them said, "Cleaner lor." The summary of the conversation is-

The cleaners make SGD 750 per month, working frm 7am to 7pm.
They are Malaysians.
They stay in Johor, which means they have to cross the border everyday.

The driver uncle makes about SGD 4000 per month, working from dawn to 11pm.
He works a second job into the night on the 3 days when he has only the morning shift.
The part time job pays him SGD 5 per hour.
He has a family to raise, and a housing loan to pay back.

I feel a lot for the cleaners. I can't imagine having to wake up so early everyday, to cross the Causeway link early in the morning, having to squeezed with the many other people crossing the border too. Even though the driver makes a decent living, but he's working all day and night, from sunrise to moonrise. I hope that his kids will grow up well.

I am thankful that I'm living a comfortable life. I am thankful for a great mom who is able to raise the 4 kids all by herself. I know if dad was around, he would have been a great dad too. God is so good. Sometimes I take it for granted that I get to study in one of the best colleges, that I have all the gadgets that I desire, and that I get to travel for a fair bit while I'm still studying.

Conversations like this, reminds me not to wind about having to cross the Causeway link using public transport. It reminds me not to be cranky about having to take the public transportation within the citystate. It reminds me to be grateful for the blessings in life. It reminds me to help people like them within my capacity when I am able to.

I am counting the blessings. God is indeed good, too good to me.

PS: But seriously, honestly, I really think that the construction site workers, cleaners, etc deserve some better pay. I had a conversation like this with a friend before, I didn't understand why couldn't workers like them be paid more. I still don't. Maybe I can bring about some changes when I become a boss one day ;p
