Romans 8
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

It's been 2 years

since I saw Rachel! It's so great to see her again - Rachel got here for good like 3 weeks ago after she's done with her school in Canada. Can't believe that people actually do come back here - to try living here for a year or two, lol.
Anyways it's great to catch up with her. Wouter has gone to Bali to surf though. When any of us get together, we'll just start gossiping. Hehe ;p Facebook is an evil tool that has provided all the information. Eventually we went on talking about who have gone MIA.

I really hope that we can hold a reunion for all of us, it's got to be somewhere cheap so that it's affordable for everyone to fly in. I think Asma is gonna be able to take up the role as the core organizer :D Otherwise, Rachel has got to make sure that she gets married to Wouter and then, their wedding will be our reunion. It sounds like a plan too! Haha.

I'm really happy how we are still in touch with one another,  it's been 2 years already. Truly amazing bunch of friends ;)

So loved

Haha! It's quite a good day ;p
Guess what? First, I got the lovely package from Taiwan before I left home for school. Yeah! Haha ;p Well Regina kinda didnt expect the postman would take only 1 week to get it delivered, lol. Still, thankful for that. It's a really beautiful bracelet, love it a lot!

PS: Kooi Cia is my real name by the way, it's my Chinese name in English. Haha ;p A lot of people actually thought that it's some random nickname that I've come up with for my Gmail and MSN address.

And after a long day in school, I came home finding Cat's love frm Berlin is knocking at my door! Haha ;p Yeah! I love postcards :D
And the first band practise was quite fun, though I didnt really play anything. But I am learning a fair bit looking at others playing too. Gotta brush up on my skills, seriously.

Timbre Music Fest

The shot of the day!
Well, it's just some random lady in the Business School. I thought it's a nice shot! The credit should be given to Karmun ;p

In the lines
We had a project meeting after school today. It's pretty alright currently but I think we need to speed up a little bit more ;p Still, I think God's answered my prayers.
After the meeting, I went to this Timbre Music Fest held in University Culture Centre. They've got a few bands performing for the night, some of them are pretty cool actually ;p
What's more surprising is - I met so many friends there, like the most random people that you could have imagined. I was first surprised to find Elie there. And then I saw Longest! He introduced another bunch of Lithuanian kids to me ;p
I am still here, actually.

I lost my wallet today

but thank God I found it back - in a piece.
Thanks Nicole for spotting it at the Lost and Found area too! ;p
Thanks for the kind-hearted for sending the wallet to the Lost and Found counter.

Most of all, thank God for listening to prayers! Things will turn out best when we worry least and rest in Him.

PS: Got my Macbook back with the top panel changed again! Haha ;p
PPS: The Voices' Welcome Tea today was fun ;p But it doesnt seem like I get to be the drummer >.<

Over the weekend

I've finally tidied up my table, and guess I'm set to start my semester well! (Oh yea, I am only starting, lol) It's not by my might and strenght, but it's all because of Him who is able, so able! :D

PS: So I wrote about the Voices audition the other day right? I got through! Haha. I really dont know how did it happen, but all I care is that it happened! Thank God ;p

Shall share a few photos with you guys-
It's Carli's D700 and my little tiny Sony Cybershot. Damn, my Sony is not a camera.
Today I finally found the laksa that has tastes the closest to the one that I have back in Penang! Oh my god. Haha ;p It's not as good as the Penang one, but at least, it does taste sour and spicy. Yeah! So happy to be able to find laksa at Clementi :D
The reason I miss Pee-Gee-Pee for. The Malay rice is really good!

Michael Guglielmucci fraud

It's really shocking to have read this news today. I've loved this song very much, especially after Darlene told us the story when she song led in our church.

The news that broke out today was totally saddening, I believe, the whole Christian community is saddened by the news. The fact that Mike hadn't got a cancer puts the world in disbelief. Many have been praying for him since he claimed that he's battling with a terminal illness. So it seemed that the whole world has been deceived by him, including his family members. The song that's released earlier, Healer, made a hit and gained popularity very quickly. But I think it takes more than just courage to admit that he has lied to the world. In the news it says that Mike is seeking professional help. I'm not entirely sure what that means >.<

Let's continue to pray for Mike, his family, all of those that have been hurt. Let's God's healing power continue to flow, and heal the heart of many. Shalom.

Anointed

We actually anointed the School of Computing and Science (mainly the Pharmacy departments) with oil 2 weeks ago. Like Selene said, it's not the oil that's magic, but it's Jesus who's magic. I'm believing God for the best this semester - that all things will work for good for me ;)A random shot of the day. I haven't quite had any class that's held out of the classroom. I think it's pretty interesting to be sitting in front of the central forum which is so busy.

Singtel's customer service sucks

So when I tried to get my phone fixed, I had an issue with Singtel's customer service. This time round, I have some (minor) problems with my USB modem - Huawei E169, I have an issue with Singtel's customer service.

I'm not sure if other Mac users out there encountered this problem-
I will have to try connecting for quite a few times before I'm able to get connected. I stay in Clementi Ave 3.
Not knowing whether it's common or not, I called up the Singtel's customer service, 1626. I've called them 3 times at least, and they told me to do the same things over and over again.
i. Check the configuration/setting
ii. Unplug the USB modem and plug that in again
iii. If the problem persists, uninstall the application and reinstall it
iv. If the problem persists, try the device on other laptops
v. If the problem persists, it could be the device's problem. Bring the Macbook down to Hello! shop and the technician will check for me. If really it's the device's problem, get the device exchanged.

I did confirm with the operator that there will be technicians in the Hello! shop, and YES was the answer that I got.

Great. So the problem does persist, sometimes. I thought I would bring it down to the Hello! shop, so I visited the Hello! shop in West Mall. But they couldn't do anything for me. Apparently there's nothing shown in the system.

I told him, "I was told to bring my Macbook and the device down to any of the Hello! shop to let the technician check on them. If it's the device's problem, then they'll replace a new one for me."
"There's nothing written in the system here about exchanging for a new device."

I asked, "Erh, I just want the problem solved, instead of wanting a new device."
"But there's nothing mentioned here."

I asked, "There's nothing shown in the system, so you can't TRY to help me solve the problem?"
"It looks that it works perfectly fine to me NOW. I have nothing to based on."

I asked, "Is there any technicians that can attend to me?"
"We dont have technicians in Hello! shops, all of us are frontliners, so we dont really know the technical problems. There isn't any technician in the Hello! shop."

I asked, "But this is what the operator told me to do, to come down to Hello! shop and have my Macbook and device checked."
"You dont have the correspondence with the operator, so we won't know what did he tell you."

I asked, "So if the problem arises again, what should I do?"
"Call 1626."

Great. And in the end, I said-
"The customer service is not always giving the right information, and they don't always keep the record of our problem/complain in the system. And when the customers go to the Hello! shop, the frontliners won't know what happened, and will have nothing to base on. It's always like this. It's like the units in Singtel are so disconnected. This is causing so much trouble to the customers."

Guess what he said?
"Then I look forward for you to join Singtel, and solve this problem for us."

CRAP! I was hoping that he said something like, "Oh we'll try to improve on this." He showed no respect to the customer >.<

Seriously, my problem isn't big at all. It's just a small issue. I can still get connected to the network - after trying a few times. And it doesn't drop that easily too. The speed was alright and everything else works fine.

I just wanted to find out whether is it common that we have to try connecting a few times (and getting that error message "Could not negotiate a connection with the remote PPP server. Please verify your settings and try again.") before getting onto the network.

I just needed to know if there's anything I could do to get rid of that. If there is not, then just tell me that it works like this. I just wanted it to be rectified if it's rectifiable. I am not really coming for a whole new device. Oh please.

And I have to go through all these to get that shit. Damn.

Night Riders 2008 - The X-Gang!

Yeah! It was totally amazing to be able to cycle around Singapore again! There were close to 200 riders last night I think. The route that we took this year is kinda relaxing, without any hills or slopes. So it made things much easier for all of us.

We basically did:
East Coast Park - Stadium Waterfront - Esplanade - Singapore River bank - Lau Pa Sat - SMU - Geyland - East Coast Park
Hrm.. think I didnt leave anything out. Hehe ;p

We set off from East Coast Park at around 10.10pm and got back to the East Coast Park again at 4.20am. Totally loved the breeze during the night. It's a crazy night where you get to do some crazy stuff which you won't normally get the chance to do in Singapore ;p

Along the way, we met some really friendly people. There's this guy who asked if we're some students who are really passionate in cycling. He thought that he would be able to see us in Olympics in a few years down the road. Well...

And another lady looked into my t-shirt and said, "Night Riders 08?!" I said, "Oh yea, Night Riders!"

We also met some ang mohs along the way that asked why didnt we do it during the day time. I said, "It's gonna be so hot during the day time! And the traffic is not gonna allow anything like this. This is Singapore right?" Haha ;p
The rider!
I thought the Stadium Waterfront is a lovely place. Wished I had taken some better shots though >.<
We had to play some games at each stop. Some were lame and some were disgusting, eww.
Anyways, for this first stop, we had to make a short story with 5 scenes, with us posing in there. So obviously we would do something typical like this ;pOur team - The X-Gang!
Lovely skyline :D
The X-Gang at the Lau Pa Sat
The last stop before heading back to the east - SMU
The riders on the road!
Apparently there's Yong He in Singapore too! We stopped at this shop briefly in Geylang.
They said you'll get a fine of SGD 1000 if you cycle through the underpass. Ooooppss.

My first Google Adsense payment!

Haha! Guess thanks should go to my friends, ooopppss!

After so many years, I've finally reached my first USD 100! Haha ;p my blog is not popular at all, so it takes like YEARS to accumulate 100.

Anyways, the Western Union option for Google Adsense really makes things so much easier! You dont need to wait for a month for the paycheck to reach your house. Just go to any CIMB or RHB bank. Jot down the details from the Account page-
i. Sender's name
ii. Sender's address
iii. Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN)
iv. Amount of the money
So I had my lunch at Sushi King! Wow. Felt so happy to be able to spend in MYR again!! ;p Finally I had my unagi! Yea! :D

This is the new custom in Johor Bahru I think. Hehe ;p Hopefully it's gonna be better than the current one.

Oh and I think City Square is really really nice! I never expected it to be that trendy! Haha. Thought it's gonna be something like our BM Plaza. Ooops. There's so much that I wanted to eat in City Square - Baskin Robbins, Coffee Bean, Secret Recipe, McDonalds, etc!

So yea, thanks to Google. As for friends, thanks for the support! Haha.

As the new semester commences

I've got all the modules I want this semester, with 1 extra even >.<

I'm juggling between 2 modules, dont quite know which to drop really.
I've got 3 CS modules which are project-based. 1 of them is 8mc ;o It means A LOT of work. I should really drop one of the CS modules because I should have some decent workload, but I dont really feel like dropping it >.<

The module that I'm considering to drop is CS3343, Digital Media Production. I've attended the 1st lecture today. It sounds like a lot of fun. And it's really something that we Communication and Media students should be learning! I am really interested in learning about the production stuff. Most of all, it's conducted by Brown! I really like him a lot. He's like one of the few lecturers that I find effective in NUS. If we had lecturers like him for all of our CS modules, our lives would have been different then. But the workload may just be too heavy for me. I'll let the holy spirit lead me to make the decision. And after I've decided what are the modules to take, then I should stay focused on my studies this semester.

I'm praying for wisdom, and believing Daddy God for a good semester ahead. It's not gonna be an easy semester ahead, but I've got the confident expectation of good through Him :)

We've come to the conclusion that China really has got A LOT of people :o Like, a lot kind of a lot! Hahha. It's an impressive job, and now the world really knows how capable the Chinese can be. Vicky and I missed the most important part though. We had to catch the last train home, so we missed the torch relay! Heard that it's a splendid work!

Rag Day 2008

It's the time of the year that we can feel the NUS spirit again! I'm really excited about Rag Day, though it didnt mean I've been part of any hall or school's rag team. But I love the fact that the NUS spirit was so strong that day. Totally amazing works frm the students. Even though I personally thought that the rag day this year is alright compared to the past 2 years, the effort that each school and hall put in is something to be celebrated.

So, I've taken a massive lot of pictures with Nameless, Carli's D80. It's my first time really shooting with a DSLR. And I realized that apparently, DSLR does take shit too. Haha! I guess I've been improving steadily. Haha.
Kent Ridge Hall was the winner, heard that they've won 10 awards out of 12. Haha. Great job!

Bringing an exchange student around

yet again. Haha!

Vicky is a new exchange kid frm NTUST. Her roommate, Nicole, is an incoming master student frm China. So they stay in the same lodge as another Malaysian friend of mine, Jinxuan. So I've been bringing them around pretty much during Week 0 too.

Going back to the places which I've been to so many times, it's not as boring as some thought. Hehe ;p Perhaps it's the companions that makes the difference. The girls get crazy as easily as I do. They've been pretty easy-going, nice in general. Haha.

Almost 1 week since I'm back in Singa

and there's been a lot going on in this week 0 of school. And there's a lot to give thanks to Daddy God too.

I have shifted to Clementi. The room that I'm sharing with Amy is really good, fully furnished. The landlord has been quite nice so far, asking us if we needed anything else. I've been settling down here, and got my internet - Singtel Wireless on Broadband. The USB modem works most of the times, it's just behaving pretty badly on Mac sometimes, otherwise I'm cool with the decent speed. With the not-too-expensive rent, I would say it's a good deal! Thanks Amy for praying pretty hard for that. I did my job too, I rested quite well in Him I believe, hehe ;p But well, it will be greater if we had a dryer in our unit, like Syen's. Haha! Thanks Siew Yik for helping me move, and Vicky for unpacking with me :D
Apart frm that, Carli is back in town again! The crazy Canadian is back in the city state doing her master studies in the NTU! I've been seeing her quite a bit, since school hasnt started for me. More importantly, she's Nikonizing me slowly. I've had a fair bit of fun playing with the boys - D80 and D700. Can you believe it? She's got a D700! Holy moly. Nikon just released the D700 like a month back or so, and I'm already honoured to play with him. After playing with the boys, the conclusion that I've come to is- DSLR does take crap pictures too, apparently. Haha. I mean, shit happens. But ey, I've improved. It's not entirely easy to manage the gigantic cameras, there's so much to learn about them. They are nonetheless fun to play with.

Passion Kuala Lumpur, totally amazing!

Had a totally amazing night at the Passion worship concert which was held at Sunway!

The evening started with Chris Tomlin leading couple of worship songs. Louie came to share a bit about the Passion World Tour, and also how Manila has been praying for us, Kuala Lumpur. More importantly, we're to pray for Jakarta! Charlie Hall was pretty cool too. Totally love both of the worship leaders.

Louie's message was simple, but impactful. I'm sure many of the youths were being touched by the stories of Ashley. I was kinda surprised that there wasnt an alter call though. I am sure we'll see a lot of youths running towards God if there's an altar call! Anyways, we, the Christians, seriously love being a fruitcake. Haha ;p Who cares if we're the fruitcakes? We're the salted fruitcakes! Because we're the salt of the earth :D Louie was great at putting the message across - the grace of God is that that matters! It reminds me of what Pastor Prince has always told us, where sin abounds, grace superabounds! That's just so true ;)

The night ended with Chris Tomlin singing couple more songs with us. And guess what? One of the songs was Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)! So beautiful ;)

It's an amazing night of worship and I've been touched by Abba yet again. Totally blessed, totally loved. Just cant help but to make the decision to live the life with one purpose - that's to magnify Jesus' name!
The crowd before entering the hall
Grace Youth Fellowship United! - yes! I'm so excited to meet the Gracians again! Especially Daniel, whom I havent seen in ages!
Passion World Tour! Exactly what we're gathered for, in unity!
Charlie Hall. Kinda reminds me of Stone Cold of WWF though, lol.
Can you see JESUS? :D
Chris Tomlin!! Totally love him. He's simply amazing.
One of the best drummers, haha! Wished I could play half as well as him >.<
Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city!

After the amazing night ;p
PS: No cameras allowed during the concert. Seriously >.<
